2018 - A Day in Paris

A day in Paris, with a camera to try out and a city to photograph. I made this series in 2018 while testing the Sony RX10 IV, bringing together photographs from a short visit to the French capital.

Paris is familiar even before arriving. The Eiffel Tower, Notre-Dame and the banks of the Seine belong to an image of the city built through countless photographs, paintings and films. Seeing them in person means placing those familiar shapes within a much larger setting: streets, bridges, rooftops and the movement of people around them.

The river opens long views through the city, while the surrounding neighbourhoods bring everything closer. Architecture is part of both experiences, from the buildings that define the skyline to the windows, doors and façades that give individual streets their character.

This gallery keeps the scale of the visit: one day and the photographs that came from it. The camera test was the starting point; Paris provided the subjects.
