Rodolfo Dordoni and Patricia Urquiola photographed at the Cassina showroom in Milan during Salone del Mobile 2019. Commissioned by Cassina through Triplesense Reply, the series shifts the attention from design objects to the people behind them.
The portraits bring individual presence and expression into the setting of Milan’s design week. Together, they form a photographic record of two designers whose work is part of Cassina’s creative history.

Rodolfo Dordoni
Rodolfo Dordoni (1954–2023) was an Italian architect and designer whose work spanned furniture, lighting, interiors and architecture. Born in Milan, he graduated from the Politecnico di Milano in 1979 and developed a career closely connected to the city’s design culture.
His collaborations included Cassina, Minotti, Foscarini, Molteni&C and Roda, encompassing both product design and artistic direction. In 2005, he founded Dordoni Architetti with Alessandro Acerbi and Luca Zaniboni, working on residential, commercial and hospitality projects. His approach combined carefully balanced proportions with an understated attention to materials and detail.
Patricia Urquiola
Patricia Urquiola is a Spanish architect and designer born in Oviedo in 1961. She studied architecture in Madrid and Milan, graduating from the Politecnico di Milano in 1989 under Achille Castiglioni. Her early career included work with Vico Magistretti at De Padova and with Lissoni Associati.
In 2001, she established her own studio in Milan, working across product design, architecture and installations. Her projects range from furniture and lighting to hotels, retail spaces and exhibitions, with collaborations including Cassina, Moroso, Flos, Louis Vuitton and Kvadrat. Appointed Art Director of Cassina in 2015, she has developed a multidisciplinary practice connecting craftsmanship, material research and contemporary design.
