Alba Gallica

Alba Gallica brings the Iron Age into the present through historical re-enactment. Created by Terra Taurina, the gathering gives participants the opportunity to explore the period through dress, objects and everyday activities, with an emphasis on shared experience rather than performance for an audience.
Photographed in Valdieri, in the province of Cuneo, the project combines individual portraits with documentary coverage of the gathering. The portraits draw attention to faces, clothing and the details through which participants interpret the past, while the event photographs place them within the wider life of the camp.
Together, the two approaches tell a story of identity, historical curiosity and community, moving between the character of each participant and the collective experience of Alba Gallica.
